In line with this commitment, the university offers employee scholarships, providing opportunities for academic advancement and professional growth. These scholarships aim to support employees in enhancing their qualifications, skills, and knowledge, contributing to both individual career progression and the overall academic excellence of the institution. KFUPM Saudi Employee Scholarship Program

The Employee Scholarship Program at KFUPM is strategically designed to enhance the competencies of our workforce, fostering knowledge development, skills acquisition, and diverse experiences that align with the needs of the governmental entity and its employees.

  1. University Degree or Equivalent
  2. Higher Diploma, Master's, or Ph.D
    • Additional requirements based on organizational framework.

To be eligible for an international scholarship, employees must meet the following criteria:

  1. Admission Acceptance:
    • Obtain acceptance from a recognized university, institute, or center approved by the relevant governmental authority.
  2. Development and Training Plans:
    • Align with the organization's development and training plans.
  3. Relevance to Governmental Needs:
    • The employee's specialization should align with the governmental entity's needs.
  4. Performance Evaluation:
    • Maintain a performance rating of at least "Very Good" for the previous year.
    • A minimum of one year of government service, excluding doctors.

  • The scholarship decision is issued by the competent minister.
  • The decision specifies the scholarship duration.
  • The employee must study diligently, maintaining a good reputation for the country.
  • The department may extend the scholarship based on the employee's health condition, supported by reports from the cultural attache in the host country.
  • Cultural attachés abroad supervise scholarship recipients.
  • Changing the major or transferring to another country or university requires prior approval.
  • Upon completing the study period, the employee must return to work within 30 days.
  • Failure to return or complete the required work period may result in financial obligations for the expenses incurred during the scholarship.
  • The competent minister may exempt the employee if working for another government-funded entity.
  • Partial exemption may occur if the employee works for a non-governmental entity or the private sector.

These guidelines ensure that KFUPM's scholarship program aligns with organizational objectives, contributing to the continuous growth and development of our workforce.

  • In-Kingdom Scholarship Opportunities

In alignment with the developmental needs of governmental entities and their employees, the provision of in-Kingdom scholarship opportunities aims to enhance the competencies, knowledge, skills, and experiences of staff. These opportunities are tailored to meet the specific needs identified through development and training plans.

  1. In-Kingdom scholarship is offered for obtaining diplomas after secondary education, undergraduate degrees, higher diplomas, master's degrees, doctoral degrees, or their equivalents.
  2. Scholarship is restricted to areas identified by the governmental entity based on the outcomes of development and training plans.
  3. Employee performance rating for the last year should be 'Very Good' or equivalent.
  4. The employee must have served for at least one year in the government service (except for doctors).
  • The decision for in-Kingdom scholarship is issued by the relevant minister, specifying the duration.
  • The employee must complete the study within the stipulated period, and extensions may be granted under certain conditions.
  1. If the employee faces health issues during their studies, confirmed by educational reports detailing impediments preventing completion within the original timeframe.
  2. No change in specialization or educational institution without governmental entity approval.
  3. Adherence to the approved study plan and schedule.
  • Changing the specialization requires approval from the governmental entity, supported by justification and the educational institution's opinion.
  • The new specialization should align with the entity's development and training plans.
  • The employee must maintain satisfactory progress in their studies.
  • Transfer is allowed only with approval from the governmental entity, necessitated by work requirements or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Approval results in an extension of the original study period.
  • The employee can continue in-Kingdom scholarship for a higher qualification with approval, considering the organizational development plan and meeting qualification requirements.
  • The employee must achieve a grade not less than 'Very Good' or equivalent.
  • Completion within the stipulated period is required.

Scholarship may be terminated by the governmental entity if the educational reports indicate an inability to achieve the intended purpose, a change of specialization without approval, negligence in studies, or unauthorized transfer between educational institutions.

  • In cases of termination, the entity may reclaim some or all expenses incurred, including salary and monthly transportation allowance.
  • Upon completion, the employee is required to work for the entity for a period equivalent to the scholarship duration or pay back half of the total expenses if unwilling or unable to fulfill the work commitment.
  • Human Resources Management in the governmental entity supervises and oversees employees during the in-Kingdom scholarship period.
