The promotion process at KFUPM is a structured and merit-based approach aimed at recognizing and rewarding the outstanding contributions of our faculty and staff. Faculty Promotion:

Assistant Professor

Procedure:

  • Submit a request to the department head.
  • Present the request to relevant councils (department, college, academic).
  • Obtain administrative approval from the university president.

Conditions:

  • Minimum four years of service.
  • Meet the minimum requirements for scholarly production.
  • Submitted work should be published or eligible for publication.

Professor

Procedure:

  • Submit a request to the department head.
  • Present the request to relevant councils (department, college, academic).
  • Obtain administrative approval from the university president.

Conditions:

  • Minimum four years of service.
  • Meet the minimum requirements for scholarly production.
  • Submitted work should be published or eligible for publication.

Staff Promotion:

  • Saudi Staff
  • Governmental Saudi Staff
  • On-Contract Saudi Staff
  • Non-Saudi Staff

Scientific Consultations - Saudi Faculty:

Procedure:

  • Submit a request from the relevant minister or institution head to the university president.
  • Present the request to the department and college councils.
  • Obtain approval from the university president.
  • Submit an annual report on the completed consultation work.

Conditions:

  • Work in the field of specialization.
  • Not work in more than one institution.
  • Ensure that the consulting role does not adversely affect the primary job at the university.

Scientific Communication (Mission Abroad) - Saudi Faculty:

Procedure:

  • Submit a request to the department head.
  • Present the matter to relevant councils (department, college, academic, university).
  • Obtain administrative approval from the university president.
  • Submit a report upon return detailing the completed tasks during the mission.

Conditions:

  • The mission duration should not exceed four months, with the possibility of extension up to one year if necessary.
